We seek applications of outstanding students from Saudi Arabia

within the framework of the collaboration between the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ), King Saud University (KSU) and Ludwig-Maximilans-Universit√§t M√ľnchen (LMU).

Within the MPQ-KSU-LMU collaboration we train PhD students in the inter-disciplinary research area of photonics. Photonics, the science and technology of laser light and its widespread applications, belongs to the fastest developing technologies of the 21st century. Our research focuses on the development of cutting-edge ultrafast laser sources and their applications including light-driven nanoelectronics, chemical and biological imaging, and medical diagnostics.

The selected students will be furnished with a PhD stipend and trained in Garching (near Munich), Germany. For their projects they will have access to world-leading facilities both in Garching and in Riyadh, hosting the first attosecond laboratory in the Gulf region.
